Volleyball splits in trimatch

Louisburg College women's volleyball took on USC Salkehatchie and Davidson-Davie Community College in a trimatch in Thomasville on Saturday. 

In the first match against USC Salkehatchie the Hurricanes won in three straight sets: 25-22, 25-18, 25-15.

Genesis Porter, Sahara Attucks, Riley Dobson, Santoriya Culliver each had 8 kills. Shyann McClain had 28 assists and 6 service aces. Culliver added 4 service aces.

Defensively, Naudika Howard and Culliver each had a block solo. Emily Loucks had 15 digs. Emma Hedrick added 8.

Coach Dan Schulte commented, "It was great to get our first win of the season on the road. Riley [Dobson] had her best hitting match and Shyann [McClain]'s return has sparked our team momentum."

In the second match against Davidson-Davie the Hurricanes lost in three straight sets: 25-19, 25-22, 25-17.

Dobson had 17 kills. Attucks added 8. McClain had 30 assists. The Hurricanes had 4 service aces.

Defensively, Howard had 3 blocks solo. Porter had 3 blocks assisted. Loucks had 17 digs.

The weekend leaves Louisburg at a 1-5 overall record. The Hurricanes take on Pitt Community College Wednesday at 6 pm in Roger Taylor Arena.
