Lady canes volleyball travel to Pitt CC and get 2 conference wins on Saturday

Canes take a 3 set win over USC Lancaster in the first match on Saturday afternoon.   Marlana Jackson and Lizzy Tuton led the canes with 13 total kills and 4 blocks.

Rebecca Sheehan had 21 digs along with an ace. Aliza Williams had 4 aces and 14 digs. 

Canes win 25-15, 25-19, 25-16

 

Canes had to battle the host team Pitt CC in the 2nd match. That was a back and forth match with Pitt CC taking the 1st and 4th set. Canes battled to win set 2 and 3.

The match came down to set 5 and canes made some timely serves and digs to turn the tide midway thru the set. They switched 8-6 and went on a serving run

to increase the lead to 13-8.  Eventually winning 15-9 in the 5th set.

" The girls played great today, really hung in against Pitt after a tough first set. We could have easily just quit after starting slow, but they battled back started 

playing to their strengths. We played tough defense, put up a few blocks and served little tougher.  Overall we have had a great start to the season.

We look forward to this week, 5 tough matches this week."

Faith Galassi led the way with 18 kills on 47 swings, hitting .319 for the match 

Rebecca Sheehan had 33 digs, Aliza Williams 6 aces and 23 digs

Marlana Jackson had 15 kills and 5 blocks

Faith Myers had 49 assists
