Women's Soccer gets decisive win

The Louisburg College Women's Soccer team notched its first win of the season at home defeating the Richard Bland College Statesmen by a score of 7-0. The Lady Hurricanes improve to 1-1 in region play and 1-4-1 overall.

Sophomore Morgan Jones started the scoring for the Hurricanes with a penalty kick goal in the 17th minute. Jones scored twice again in the 33rd and 67th minutes to complete her second hat trick of the season. Freshmen Cora Watkins, Clara Vera, and Neraly Argueta-Mejia each added a goal in the contest. Freshman Selah Hampton also scored in the 65th minute, bringing her goal tally to two goals on the season. Freshman goalkeeper Kadence Miller recorded her first clean sheet of the season, shutting-out the Statesmen after 90 minutes played.

"This was a solid win for our team," said Coach Fresco, "everyone gave their full effort and we're looking forward to more positive results this year."

The Lady Hurricanes continue region play this week with a return trip to Richard Bland College on Wednesday in Petersburg, Virginia.
