Louisburg College Holds Off Cape Fear in Thrilling Overtime Victory, 69-67

In a nail-biting contest that went down to the wire and beyond, the Louisburg College Hurricanes edged past Cape Fear Community College in a thrilling overtime victory, triumphing 69-67.

The first quarter saw Cape Fear take a slim 17-15 lead, with Louisburg determined to keep pace. However, Louisburg's offensive struggles in the first half, shooting just 25.9% from the field, allowed Cape Fear to maintain a slight advantage heading into halftime, leading 30-31.

As the game progressed, Louisburg found their rhythm, mounting a comeback in the third quarter to tie the game at 45-45. Despite the Hurricanes' improved shooting efficiency, Cape Fear continued to battle, setting the stage for a dramatic finish in regulation.

With the score deadlocked at 57-57 at the end of the fourth quarter, the game headed into overtime. In the extra period, Louisburg's resilience shone through as they capitalized on clutch plays from Chloe Rush and Dyimond Sturdivant to secure a hard-fought victory. Clowney led the charge for Louisburg with 23 points, while Daniels contributed 14 points and orchestrated the offense with precision. Rush and Sturdivant provided crucial contributions, chipping in with 13 and 6 points, respectively.

Louisburg's Head Coach, Jason Rasnake, praised the team's resilience, stating, "It was a hard-fought battle, and I'm proud of the way our players persevered until the end. This victory is a testament to their character and determination."

This is the second loss for the Sea Devils this season and both came at the hands of the Hurricanes, who improve to 20-4 (17-4, Region10).  Next up for Louisburg College is another road game at Central Carolina Community College on Wednesday Night at 6pm.
