Canes upset Previously Unbeaten #16 Cape Fear 84-76

In a commanding performance, the Louisburg College Hurricanes exhibited their basketball prowess against Cape Fear Community College, securing an 84-76 victory in a thrilling matchup on their home court.

From the opening tip-off, Louisburg set the tone for the game with a dominant first quarter. The Hurricanes, led by standout performances from Kimora Cox and Kandace Daniels, established a formidable 30-12 lead, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive resilience.

Louisburg's dynamic offensive play continued in the second quarter, with Daniels adding 14 points to her tally. However, Cape Fear managed to regroup, outscoring the Hurricanes in the quarter, narrowing the gap to 43-37 at halftime.

The third quarter witnessed a spirited effort from Cape Fear as they battled to overcome the deficit. Louisburg, known for their three-point proficiency, showcased their marksmanship, with 10 successful shots from beyond the arc. Despite Cape Fear's resurgence, Louisburg maintained their lead, entering the final quarter with a 63-60 advantage.

In the fourth quarter, Louisburg's depth and versatility came to the forefront. Contributions from Trinity Smith ensured the Hurricanes stayed in control. 

Louisburg's Head Coach, Jason Rasnake, commended the team's effort, stating, "Cape Fear gave us a tough challenge, but our players displayed resilience and executed well, especially in crucial moments. We capitalized on our strengths and secured the win."

While Cape Fear fought valiantly, their efforts fell short against Louisburg's balanced scoring and cohesive team play. Louisburg's ability to convert from long range, coupled with strong defensive plays, ultimately sealed the 84-76 victory.

With this win, Louisburg College moves to 16-3 overall and 13-3 in region ten.  Their next game will be another home contest on Tuesday, February 6th at 5pm vs Bryant & Stratton College (VA).
