Bio

Eric Lee was named Head Coach of the Louisburg College Softball program on September 5th of 2017.  He brings over nine years of coaching experience to Louisburg.

"I'd like to thank Athletics Director Mike Holloman and President Tolbert for the opportunity they've afforded me to lead the Hurricanes," said Lee.  "It is a dream come true to be a head coach at this level and I can not wait to begin the process of establishing a culture of excellence not only on the field, but also in the classroom and community."

In Lee's first season as the skipper for the Hurricanes, his squad compiled a 29-10 overall record.  The team captured the Region X Championship en rout to an appearance in the District Finals.  Lee coached both the Pitcher of the Year, Mary Anna Clement, and Player of the Year, Liv Garman.  Following the season, Garman signed to play at her dream school, East Carolina, after just one season in Louisburg. In the 2018 season, there were seven Hurricanes named to All-Region X teams.

Year two for Lee calling the shots for the Hurricanes saw an offensive breakout campaign where the team hit 67 Home Runs and scored a staggering 437 runs in 49 games.  His second group again won the Region X title en rout to a final eight appearance at the NJCAA National Championship in Clinton, MS.  Multiple Hurricanes were honored in post season awards.  Haleigh Joyner was named a First Team All-American by the NFCA, NJCAA and FPN following a campaign that saw her hit 17 Home Runs and drive in 65 runs.  Sarah Hilton was named a Second Team All-American after hitting .475 with 8 Home Runs and 52 RBI while leading region with 22 doubles.  Hilton would go on to sign with Francis Marion University to continue playing and obtain her Bachelor's Degree after the 2020 season.  Mary Anna Clement would be named a Second Team All-American following the season.  She was named All-Region X and was the Region X Championship MVP for the second consecutive season under Lee's tutelage in 2019.  She would go on to sign with Lenoir-Rhyne after the season.  Mason Hedgecock was the fourth member of Coach Lee's 2019 squad to be named an All-American.  She hit .488 from the leadoff spot scoring 61 runs and swiping 41 bases in 43 attempts.  Hedgecock became the second Hurricane in as many seasons to sign with East Carolina following 2019.

The 2020 season was one of great promise when it abruptly ended due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  The Hurricanes were sitting in the Top Five in the national polls and riding a 16-1 record coming home from spring break wins over traditional powers Daytona State and Georgia Military.  As impressive as the 2019 team was offensively, the 2020 group was on track to be even greater.  In just 17 games, they hit 32 Home Runs and scored 198 runs while hitting for a .414 batting average as a team.  Due to the nationwide pandemic, the season was cut short and the Hurricanes didn't finish the hot start to their season.

Lee's first stop at the collegiate level was at Division I Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC from 2012-13.  He worked with base runners and coached the slappers during the 2013 season.  The Camels raced to a 39 win campaign and finished the season ranked in the Top 5 nationally in stolen bases.  The team fell just short of a Big South Championship, but had multiple players named to the all-conference team and the Big South Freshman of the Year.  Head Coach Drew Peterson was named Coach of the Year.

Lee comes to Louisburg from Wake Christian Academy in Raleigh, NC where he compiled a 54-24 overall record in his three years at the helm of the Bulldogs.  The team won two conference titles, had 13 players named all-conference, five named all-state and made the 2017 NCISAA State Finals.  It was the school's first ever trip to the state finals.

Prior to his seasons in Raleigh, Coach Lee was the assistant coach at the University of Mount Olive where he coached the hitters and led the recruiting efforts.  He was instrumental in the delivery of 12 student-athletes to the university in his lone season there.  He coached multiple all-conference players and an all-region performer.  The Trojans went on to win the Conference Carolinas Championship and compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament during that 2014 season.

Lee is married to the former Brittany Stanley, a standout pitcher for Campbell University from 2007-10.  She returned to Buies Creek as an assistant coach from 2012-15.  The couple has two daughters, AnnaGrace (4) and Emmalyn (1).  They reside in Garner, NC.
