Woodard and Others Shine in Cross Country Debut

The Louisburg College men's cross country team made their season debut Saturday at the Catawba College Fleet Feet Invitational.

The team was led by sophomore Tiwan Woodard who finished in 118th with a new PR of 31:53. Freshmen Jason McIntyre and Nehemiah Shannon were 2nd and 3rd on the team with times of 32:57 and 35:09 respectively.  Sophomores Sean Johnson Jr. and Tanner Ouellette rounded out the top 5 for the Canes.

The team finished in 13th overall.

"I thought it was a very solid debut for our guys," said Louisburg coach Chandler Caldwell. "I thought our freshmen showed a lot of promise considering this was their first ever 8K, and we are super pleased with where Tiwan [Woodard] is. This weekend he had his best time ever on the first meet of the year on a tough course. That is grit. We go as he goes. He has become an outstanding leader."

Louisburg College cross country runs again on 9/23 at Mcalpine Creek Park in Charlotte, NC.
