‘Canes Wrap Up Weekend From Colonial Relays & Phoenix Invite

The ‘Canes got rolling at the Colonial Relays for a few of the freshman distance runners. Albert Norman highlighted the day with a 20 second PR in is second attempt at the 3k steeplechase and now sits at #4 in the country. Walker Hirsch raced his first college 5k and resulted in a national qualifying mark of 15:23. The last race of the day came from Andrew Inman, who endured for the first time, 10,000 meters on the track to run 32:37 and now sits 5th in the country. Andrew closed out a day of 3 for 3 national qualifiers. 

The ‘Canes also traveled to Elon University for the Phoenix invite. There, the highlighting performance came from Zach Boyers in the throws as he PR’d for the 3rd meet in a row and won his second straight competition in the shot put with a throw of 16.40. He also threw for a PR in the discus to finish 6th. Another event winner came from Orlandus Gamble who won the high Jump for the second straight week leaping 6 foot 8. Tayshaun Chisholm ran a new PR in the hurdles to climb the national ranks to 6th in country with a 14.47. Sprint squad ran 5 men under 23 led by Aveon Reid of 22.38.  Ashley Pearce led the way for the women’s sprints with a time of 25.71 to finish 7th overall. Finally, middle distance took care of business with Adanna Thomas running a PR in the 800 of 2:38. On the men’s side Qua-Ronz ran 1:55.1 and finished 5th overall. Right behind him we’re PRs from Dennis Mccheskey (2:01), Zaire (2:02), and Maleik (2:03).
