The 11th-Ranked Louisburg College Men's Soccer team survived a scare from the visiting Eagles of Wake Tech on Wednesday evening at May Field. With the victory the Hurricanes move to a perfect 3-0 on the season, outscoring their opponents by a combined 24-2 in those matches.
The Canes trailed early when Wake Tech netted a goal in the 31st minute of play and the score would remain 1-0 until the 73rd minute when Lucca Toledo-Carvahl scored an unassisted goal. The match remained tied through the end of regulation and the first overtime period. In the second overtime, 108th minute of play, Esteban Escobar struck with the deciding tally after being fed by Wael Nabih while playing two men down most of the second overtime.
Louisburg ended the evening with 21 total shots and seven of those on goal while the Eagles were only able to manage three shots on goal.
The Hurricanes return to the pitch on Saturday for their fourth consecutive home contest to start the season. Kickoff is slated for 3pm against USC Salkehatchie.
