Men's Basketball outlasted by Catawba Valley

Men's Basketball traveled to Hickory this weekend to face Catawba Valley Community College. The Hurricanes won the first match up at Roger Taylor Arena back in January, but Catawba Valley was able to come away with the win on Saturday.

"Catawba Valley beat us. They were better than us today," said Louisburg coach Bryan Bagwell. "We were lucky to go into half time only down two, but in the second half they were able to pound it inside to cause both Bass [Diop] and Antonio [Patterson] to foul out."

Before their big men fouled out the Hurricanes were able to cut Catawba Valley's 12-point lead to 1, only to be defeated in the last minutes 94-81 after intentionally putting Catawba Valley on the free throw line to create more possessions.

De'Shone Hicks led the Hurricanes 19 points. Terrelle Bowens and Jordan Beale had 17 and 12 respectively.

The Hurricanes take the court again Wednesday for a rematch against Pitt Community College to try to continue the success they found in their 94-66 win back on January 15.
