Strong Second Half propels Men's Basketball past Patrick Henry

Louisburg College men's basketball hosted Patrick Henry Community College on Saturday in Roger Taylor Arena.

Patrick Henry was able to get out to an early lead and keep it until Louisburg won the last four minutes of the first half by 6 to go ahead 31-29 going into halftime.

"We struggled scoring early," said Louisburg Coach Bryan Bagwell. "Patrick Henry played really hard in the first 20 minutes and we had to work for every basket we got."

The Hurricanes also struggled from the free throw line—going 13-24 on the night—but were still able to prevail 78-54 in the end.

In the second half the Hurricanes were able to get out in transition and stretch the lead right away on the efforts of De'Shone Hicks who led the Hurricanes with 29 points including 5-8 from the 3-point line. Jordan Beale and Terrelle Bowens added 13 a piece.

The most impressive stat was the Hurricanes 13 blocks. Terrelle Bowens had 6, Bass Diop had 5, and Antonio Patterson added 2.

The win pushes Louisburg to 10-7 in Region X play and 14-10 overall. The Hurricanes will hit the road to take on Bryant & Stratton in Virginia, Wednesday afternoon. Bryant & Stratton won the last meeting 84-80 at Louisburg.
