Hurricane Men Prevail at Fayetteville Tech

Louisburg men's basketball travelled to Fayetteville Technical Community College on Monday, in the middle of a three game stretch in six days. The Hurricanes were able to advance to 2-0 in the second half of league play, 12-8 overall.

"I was proud of my team tonight," said Coach Bryan Bagwell. "We played as hard as we have all year."

Louisburg's defense propelled them to an 11-4 lead by the 12:00 mark, and until the final seconds of the first half the Hurricanes were able to hold Fayetteville Tech to 20 points. By half time, however, Fayetteville Tech shrunk the lead to 37-31.

The second half was much of the same. Louisburg's defense caused 20 turnovers in the contest and made Fayetteville Tech take tough shots, but the Hurricanes could never extend the lead. In fact, Fayetteville Tech was even able to go ahead in the late stages of the game, but Louisburg prevailed 80-76.

Standing out for the Hurricanes was sophomore forward Antonio Patterson. He finished the contest with 6 offensive rebounds, 6 steals, and 7 blocks; capped off with a 25 point contribution on a 9-20 effort from the floor.

De'Shone Hicks and JahQuez Sanders add 11 points respectively.

The Hurricanes return to action Wednesday to take on Vance-Granville at Roger Taylor Arena. Tip off is at 7 pm.
