Men's basketball pick up the conference win over Southwest Virginia 96-74

Southwest Virginia Community College hosted Louisburg College men's basketball in Cedar Bluff, VA, but it was the Hurricanes who welcomed their opponent to Region X play handing Southwest Virginia a 22-point loss on Saturday.

Both teams took a while to get going, but by the 8:00 mark in the first half the Hurricanes took a commanding 31-14 lead and they never looked back. By halftime the score was 52-33. Southwest Virginia got as close as 10 during the second half, but the Hurricanes prevailed 96-74.

Head Coach Bryan Bagwell commented, "It was good to see us move the ball and play with tempo against their zone. Antonio [Patterson's] and Terrelle [Bowen's] presence on the offensive glass was big." Patterson led the Hurricanes with 19 points and 7 offensive rebounds. DeShone Hicks (18), Jordan Beale (16), and Terrelle Bowens (11) all finished in double figures.

The Hurricanes return home Wednesday for their second Region X match up. This time against the Trojans of Fayetteville Technical Community College. Tip off is at 7:00 pm.
