The canes came out with a dominating performance to start the 2019 football season at Dough Shaw Memorial Stadium. The Hurricanes were well prepared and showed their athletic prowess early in the contest. The offense had multiple rushers with touchdowns, including Kijier Finister with a 38 yard burst early in the 1st quarter. Early in the 3rd quarter Brent Jones hit Hakim Brooks with a 11 yard touchdown pass to put the Canes up 36-0.
The defense dominated their side of the ball and scored on two occassions, Devon Beckford returned an interception back for a touchdown to get the canes going early in the contest. Travon Alston recovered a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown to put the final touches on the game and make the score 44-0.
