Baseball goes 2-1 in series against Patrick & Henry

Louisburg College's baseball team had a strong showing in their series against Patrick & Henry Community College, winning 2 out of 3 games over the weekend.

Game 1: Louisburg Dominates with 10-0 Win

The first game of the series saw Louisburg College deliver an impressive 10-0 victory over Patrick & Henry. Casey Culbreth earned the win for Louisburg, pitching a dominant five innings with only two hits allowed and six strikeouts. His stellar performance kept Patrick & Henry off the scoreboard while his offense erupted in support.

The offense was led by a trio of home runs from Kenny Schaedel, Jake Modrak, and Jace Dunn. Dunn's leadoff homer in the second inning set the tone for the game, followed by Modrak's homer in the fifth. Schaedel's line-drive homer in the fourth, along with timely hits from the rest of the lineup, including a double from Anthony Jones and a key two-run single from Colin Cusick, helped the Hurricanes pull away. Louisburg capitalized on their chances, with a total of 13 hits in the game.

Patrick & Henry could not get anything going offensively, only managing two hits and no runs. The game ended in a mercy-rule win, with the Hurricanes dominating both at the plate and on the mound.

Game 2: Louisburg wins a close game 12-11

In the second game of the series, Louisburg wins 12-11 in a back-and-forth contest that stretched seven innings. Louisburg offense came out strong, scoring two runs in the first inning and never letting up. Despite a solid offensive effort from P&H, which included multiple home runs and timely hitting, the Patriots fell short.

Louisburg had contributions from several players, including a two-run double by Anthony Jones and a home run by Troy Daniels. Schaedel also added a long ball to his tally, while Taiowa Costello contributed with a two-run single. However, the Hurricanes struggled with defensive miscues and a lack of consistent pitching depth. Several pitchers, including Simon Martone and Ben Blondino, were unable to contain Patrick & Henry's powerful lineup, and the game slipped away in the later innings.

Game 3: Louisburg Falls Short, 15-4

The final game of the series saw Patrick & Henry secure a 15-4 victory. Louisburg's pitchers struggled, as starter Anthony Dorner was knocked around for five runs in just two innings. Patrick & Henry then piled on with a seven-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach.

Louisburg had some bright spots offensively, with Schaedel hitting another home run and Jace Dunn adding a double. However, it wasn't enough to mount a comeback, and the Hurricanes' defense also faltered with three errors on the day. Patrick & Henry's consistent hitting and aggressive baserunning ultimately overwhelmed Louisburg.
