Bio

Quinderra Spellman the Head Football Coach at Louisburg College came to the College after 12 seasons on the North Carolina Wesleyan coaching staff where he served as Assistant Head Coach for defensive line.

Spellman has been a mainstay at NC Wesleyan for over 16 years, both as a coach and as a player.

In addition to coaching the defensive line–and being one-time interim head coach–Spellman's role included academic coordinator, strength & conditioning coach, equipment manager, community service, and video coordinator. He also organized travel, summer camp, and the program's work study.

At NC Wesleyan, Spellman was assistant recruiting coordinator. He recruited student-athletes from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia.

"My coaching philosophy is that football is merely an extension of the classroom," said Spellman. "My goal is to make football the most positive and influential experience that our players will have during their collegiate years. As the Head Football Coach, I want to do everything possible to help our players reach their full potential, not only as student-athletes but as young men."

A 4 year letterman, Spellman was a team captain for 3 of those years. He was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection and Defensive Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Spellman was voted Third team All-Region in 2008 and in 2018 he was a NC Wesleyan Hall of Fame Inductee. He held multiple records for quarterback sacks while ranking second in career tackles-for-loss.

As a player, Spellman led NC Wesleyan to a USA South Conference Title and the program's first-ever NCAA Playoff victory in 2007. Upon returning as a coach, he helped guide his alma mater to the 2010 conference title -- their third during that four year span.

"I am passionate and driven both as a football coach and as an effective leader to young men," said Spellman. "I strive to pass my knowledge and love for the game the same way it was passed on to me by former coaches and peers. I aim to develop young men to become better people, students, and athletes on their journey to becoming productive citizens in society."

He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and has certifications in: First Aid and CPR/AED, USA Weightlifting, and Executive Leadership.

Spellman commented, "My philosophy of discipline and my determination for building a successful program will allow me to implement a winning culture with Louisburg College Football."

Spellman graduated with a bachelor of science in Exercise Science from NC Wesleyan in 2009. He resides in Rocky Mount with his wife, Rena, son, Quincy, and daughter Raya.
