Bio

Louisburg College is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dennis L. Gaskins, Jr. as the new head coach of the women's basketball team. Gaskins brings a wealth of experience, a strong work ethic, and a proven track record of success to the Hurricanes.

"Dennis is a dynamic leader with a clear vision for our women's basketball program," said Athletic Director Mike Holloman. "His experience at various levels of coaching, coupled with his commitment to the development of student-athletes, makes him the perfect fit for our team. We are excited to welcome him to the Louisburg College family."

Gaskins most recently served as the head women's basketball coach at Patrick & Henry Community College. His responsibilities included recruiting players who fit the team's vision, planning and implementing practice and game strategies, and promoting the physical, intellectual, and social growth of student-athletes.

Prior to his tenure at Patrick & Henry, Gaskins was the assistant women's basketball coach at Louisburg College from July 2022 to April 2023. During this time, he was instrumental in recruiting student-athletes, facilitating training sessions, and building a positive team environment.

Gaskins' coaching career began at Elon University, where he served as a graduate assistant basketball coach. He has also held significant roles such as club director and coach at Carolina Explosion Sports Club and owner/operator of Capital Sportsplex in Wake Forest, NC. His diverse experience includes managing sports facilities, scheduling tournaments and practices, and engaging in community outreach and fundraising.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to return to Louisburg College as the head women's basketball coach," said Gaskins. "I am grateful to Dr. Brown and Athletic Director Mike Holloman for this amazing opportunity. I look forward to working with our talented student-athletes and building a program that makes our college proud."

Gaskins holds a degree from Elon College, where he completed his education in 2001. He and his family reside in Wake Forest, NC.
