Hurricanes Go 2-1 to Start the New Year with a Win over Southwest Virginia

In a thrilling women's basketball matchup, Louisburg College emerged victorious against Southwest Virginia with a final score of 69-61. The tightly contested game showcased the resilience and determination of the Louisburg College Lady Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes showcased their skills with a strong offensive and defensive performance. Kandace Daniels led the charge with an impressive 25 points, while Mackenzie Chabala, Chloe Rush and Kimora Cox all contributed significantly with 11 points each.

Despite a challenging shooting night, Louisburg's defensive efforts and ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities proved crucial. The Lady Hurricanes secured 27 offensive rebounds, translating into 20 second-chance points. This tenacity, coupled with effective transition play, allowed Louisburg to maintain a narrow lead throughout the game.

Louisburg College seized control in the third quarter, outscoring Southwest Virginia 25-17. Kandace Daniels played a pivotal role during this stretch, scoring efficiently and contributing to the team's defensive efforts. The Lady Hurricanes' ability to capitalize on turnovers and control the boards set the stage for their victory.

Louisburg's Head Coach praised the team's resilience, stating, "This time of year is always tough for everyone.  Like most teams, we are battling through injuries and sickness and the team has really stepped up to do what needs to be done to secure wins.  It's a testament to our depth and buy-in from our players up and down the roster."

Louisburg College will look to build on this momentum as they continue Region 10 play this Wednesday, January 17th at Catawba Valley Community College (5pm).
