Women's Basketball 2-0 in 401 Classic

Louisburg College women's basketball showcased their resilience and determination as they hosted the thrilling two-day 401 classic, culminating in back-to-back victories against formidable opponents.

On day one, in a hard-fought battle on the home court, Louisburg College secured a 69-58 victory against Florida State College at Jacksonville. Leading the charge was the dynamic duo of Kandace Daniels and Dyimond Sturdivant.

Daniels dominated with a double-double, notching 18 points and grabbing an impressive 18 rebounds. Sturdivant added 11 points and showcased her defensive prowess with 10 rebounds. The Hurricanes' tenacious defense, totaling 13 steals, played a pivotal role in securing the win.

Despite a slow start, Louisburg rallied in the second half, outscoring their opponents and proving their ability to adapt and overcome challenges.

On day two, the Hurricanes continued their winning streak on the second day of the classic, defeating CCBC Catonsville with a final score of 68-62. Kandace Daniels once again proved instrumental, leading the team with 22 points and 6 rebounds.

The Hurricanes displayed their three-point shooting prowess, connecting on 10 shots from beyond the arc. The offensive efforts of Jade Clowney, who recorded 5 assists, and the overall team effort in creating turnovers were key elements in securing the win.

Coach Rasnake expressed satisfaction with the team's performance over the two-day classic, emphasizing the players' resilience and adaptability on the court. "We faced strong competition, and I'm proud of how our team responded. The victories are a testament to the hard work and dedication these players bring to each game. Although I am happy with the team's early success, we still have a lot to improve going into Region 10 play," said Rasnake.

The Hurricanes will be on the road this Wednesday at Fayetteville Technical Community College at 6pm.
