Women's Basketball wins last regular season contest

The Louisburg College women's basketball team secured a win against Fayetteville Technical Community College in a contest held at Methodist University on Wednesday. The final score was 60-39 in favor of Louisburg College.

Chloe Rush had an all around game for Louisburg College, with a total of 12 points and added seven rebounds to her tally. Mikirea Shippy and Amiyah Evans were the other top performers for the team, with 14 and 11 points respectively.

Louisburg College had a strong first quarter, but Fayetteville Tech fought back to take the lead in the second. However, Louisburg College regained their momentum in the second half, winning the third quarter 14-10 and sealing their victory with a 20-5 run in the fourth quarter. Kimora Cox added a much needed three pointer that sparked the second half scoring for the Hurricanes.

Louisburg College's defense was impressive throughout the contest, with three blocks and 12 steals. Evans and Shippy combined for 6 of the team's 12 steals.

Louisburg College Head Coach, Jason Rasnake, praised his team's performance, saying, "I am extremely proud of the way our team played today. They executed in the fourth quarter, especially on the defensive end. We were able to force turnovers and capitalize on fast break opportunities, which was a big factor in the win."

Louisburg College's next game will be a Region 10 Tournament opening round contest on March 6, 2023, at home at 6pm. The final seeding will be determined after all conference teams finish the regular season on Friday, March 3.
The Hurricanes will likely enter the tournament as a #5 or #7 seed. More information about the Region X Women's Basketball Tournament can be found [here].
