Women Win Again

Louisburg College women's basketball traveled to Guilford Tech Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes won 71-57. The Hurricanes won the 1st quarter and never looked back.

The leading scorer for Louisburg was A'Maurya Tate-Smith. She had 18 points (7-10, 2-3, 2-3).

Also in double figures, Makayla Evertte had 17 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor. She also grabbed 8 rebounds. Mikirea Shippy had 14 points and was 6-11 from the floor. Shippy also had 3 assists and 4 steals. Antonia Whorley had 12 points on 5-8 shooting.

"It feels good to be in the winning column again. We're really coming together with a greater understanding of what we are trying to do on the court," said Louisburg coach Jason Rasnake. "With six out of our last eight games at home, I'm optimistic about how we will finish the season. Our focus is on making the region tournament and finishing with the highest seed possible."

The Hurricanes take the floor Monday against Central Carolina Community College. The game is a postponement and will tip off at Roger Taylor Arena at 6 pm.
