Women's Basketball has Strong Second Half

Louisburg College women's basketball traveled to Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory on Wednesday night.

Louisburg lost the first quarter by 5 and the second quarter by 7, in a big offensive half for both teams. The second quarter alone boasted a combined 55 points. Scoring in the third quarter ended tied 14-14, and the Hurricanes won the fourth quarter 17-15; but it was not enough to overcome their first half deficit. Louisburg lost 76-66.

Louisburg coach Jason Rasnake commented, "I like our fight right now. Our players aren't giving up. We put more and more together each game.  I'm looking forward to the home stretch of the season. The hope is we're playing our best basketball come tournament time."

Leading scorers for the Hurricanes were Mikirea Shippy (20), Shelby Ricks (14), and Makayla Evertte (11).

Women's Basketball travels to Guilford Technical Community College on Saturday for a 5:00 tip at the Ragsdale YMCA.
