Lady Hurricanes split two contests

Louisburg College women's basketball went 1-1 over the weekend in their two home contests.

In their season opener the Hurricanes matched up with the Cardinals of CCBC Catonsville.  With a shortened lineup due to injury, the Hurricanes were able to battle for a 59-47 victory.  Makayla Everette led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed a game high 21 rebounds.

In their second contest of the weekend the Hurricanes fell to Spartanburg Methodist 90-66. The short handed home team was able to go into halftime down just 4 points.  A third quarter surge but the Pioneers was too much for Louisburg College to recover from.  A'Maurya Tate-Smith led all scorers in the contest with 20 points.

After the weekend Head Coach Jason Rasnake was optimistic about his team saying, "I am proud of the way our team fought through adversity this weekend.  With only seven available players, we had players playing extended minutes, some out of position.  We are obviously not satisfied with the result of Sunday's game but we were able to finds some small victories to build on as we move through the season."

The Lady Hurricanes next matchup is 5pm Thursday against Guilford Technical Community College in Roger Taylor Arena on the campus of Louisburg College.
