Hurricanes hold on for road victory

Louisburg College women's basketball took on Brunswick Community College for the second time on Wednesday. In the first meeting in Roger Taylor Arena the Hurricanes won by 20 points. This time the Hurricanes were on the road.

Brunswick got out to an early lead 19-14 at the end of the 1st quarter. Then Louisburg tied it up 30-30 at halftime. The Hurricanes had a big third quarter, scoring 25 points to take a 8 point lead. In the final 10 minutes, the Hurricanes were able to hold on for the 69-64 win.

Destini Abramson-Lee recorded a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 steals. Makayla Everette led the team in score with 17 points. She was 7-10 from the floor with 5 offensive rebounds. Jainaya Jones contributed 15 points. Charmille Browne had 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 steals. Collectively, the Hurricanes finished the night with a big defensive stat line including 20 steals and 53 total rebounds.

The women play their final regular season game against Bryant & Stratton on Saturday. The game will be held at Atlantic Shores Christian School and tips off at 1:00 pm.
