Women's Basketball suffers hard-fought loss

Louisburg College women's basketball took on top Region X opponent, USC-Salkehatchie, this Saturday in Roger Taylor Arena. The Hurricanes got down early, allowing 28 points in the second quarter, but they did not quit. USC-Salkehatchie scored 46 by halftime, but Louisburg countered in the second half with 47 of their own only to fall short 76-70.

Aniylah Bryant led the Hurricanes with 25 points, 9-12 from the floor. Jainaya Jones had 15 points with 5 assists. Makayla Everette added 9, most of which came from the free throw line.

"Our team showed a lot of heart today. We got down early and that's completely my fault. I need to have us prepared and ready to play," said Coach Jason Rasnake. "We didn't give up and we got stops when we needed them. I can't say enough about the toughness of our team."

The Hurricanes return to action on Wednesday as they face another undefeated team in Catawba Valley. In the last match-up Louisburg defeated Catawba Valley 77-70 in last year's Region X Tournament, knocking off the number 1 seed 77-70. The game this week is at Roger Taylor Arena at 5:00 pm.
