Women's Basketball Tops Brunswick

On Wednesday night, the Louisburg College Women's Basketball team hit the road for another Region X matchup.  This time the Hurricanes took on the Dolphins of Brunswick Community College.

Jainaya Jones scored on the first possession and the Hurricanes kept the lead for the remainder of the game.

Louisburg's stifling defense led to fast break opportunities and put the Hurricanes up by 10 at the half.  Hot shooting and unselfish basketball in the second half extended the lead to a 98-77 final.  The Hurricanes shot 52% from the field and finished with 31 assists on 38 made baskets.

Aniylah Bryant lead the Hurricanes in scoring with 30 points on 12 of 18 shooting from the field and hitting 4 three pointers.  Many of her baskets we assisted by Jainaya Jones who ended her day with 12.

Caleah Smith and Starasia Bell-Freeman added 13 and 12 points respectively.

The Lady Hurricanes return home this Saturday, February 8th at 1pm in the Taylor Athletic Center.  Saturday's game will be Louisburg' College's annual Play4Kay event to raise support and awareness for women's cancers.  For more information on the Kay Yow Cancer Fund please visit kayyow.com
