Softball shuts out Bryant & Stratton

On Saturday Louisburg College softball hosted Bryant & Stratton Sheilah Cotten Field. Louisburg swept the day, shutting out Bryant & Stratton in both games.

"I'm proud of our team for coming out and playing with a great deal of purpose and passion on Saturday," said Louisburg coach Eric Lee. "We did a lot of things really well and won all three phases of the game."

Brianna Tucker was 4-4 with 4 home runs, 3 base on balls, and 2 stolen bases. Zoey Jones and Emilee Prince combined for a shutout, while Kennedy Byrd threw the other amid having 2 home runs herself. 

In game one the Hurricanes won 11-0.

In the circle Zoey Jones had 4 innings of work with 3 strikeouts, only giving up 1 hit. Emilee Prince recorded the final 3 outs while striking out 2.

The Hurricanes offense was stellar, led by homeruns from Brianna Tucker and Kennedy Byrd. Taylor McQueen, Kennedy Byrd, Iona Davis, Carly Hannah, and Edi Austin all had extra base hits; and RBIs came from Byrd (4), Iona Davis (2), Tucker, and Edi Austin.

In game two the Hurricanes won 16-0.

Kennedy Byrd got the win in the circle with 5 innings pitched. She had 7 strikeouts while throwing the 2 hit shutout.

At the plate, Brianna Tucker was 3-3. All of her hits were home runs. She also walked to score a total of 4 runs and have 6 RBI. Kennedy Byrd was 2-2 with a homerun and 3 RBI. She scored 3 runs and walked twice. Darrah Nickens was 2-2 with 2 runs scored.

Home runs include; Tucker (3), Byrd, Edi Austin, and Kasey Lee.

RBIs came from: Tucker (6), Byrd (3), Austin (2), McQueen, Lee, and Dessa Houston.

After the wins Softball moves to 17-2 on the season. The Hurricanes will travel to Brunswick on Monday afternoon before heading to Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, and Southeastern Community College on Wednesday next week.
