Three Hurricanes Tabbed NJCAA Softball All-American

The Louisburg College Softball team continues to rack up postseason awards with the naming of three Hurricanes to National Junior College Athletic Association All-America teams.  Brianna Tucker was named to the NJCAA All-America First Team, while Carrigan Ewers and Ansley Lee were named to the Third Team.  Lee makes the 5th Hurricane to be named All-American from the 2022 campaign – joining Tucker, Ewers, Foster Sharpe and Abbie Yarboro.

Brianna Tucker had a .488 batting average with 65 total hits including 18 doubles, and 5 triples. She is 3rd in the country in homeruns with 23. Tucker also had 69 RBI (9th in the country) and 79 runs scored. Tucker also collected 27 stolen bases.

"Bri Tucker is the most humble player I have ever coached," recounted Coach Lee. "She quietly goes about her business every single day and never wants the credit, just the win. She is a special talent that possesses all five tools and I look forward to watching her success in the ACC."

Ansley Lee was a .400 hitter with 44 hits including 9 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs. She had 38 RBI, and 37 runs scored in the regular season.

"Ansley came to us this fall and found an injection of energy and excitement for the game that she hadn't experienced in some time," said Coach Lee. "I'm extremely proud of the season that she had and the growth that I saw in her–not just as a player, but as a teammate."

Through the end of regular season play, Carrigan Ewers went 19-2 in the circle. She pitched 126.1 innings and is 7th in the country with a 1.16 ERA. Ewers had 162 strikeouts. Opponents hit .177 against her.

"Carrigan Ewers natural talent is unmatched," said Louisburg Coach Eric Lee. "She is intrinsically motivated to be the best in a way that I have never seen. She has developed so much over the last two years, and I'm glad to see that coaches across the eastern US are rewarding her excellence."

This marks the first time under the leadership of Head Coach Eric Lee that the NJCAA has named three Louisburg College softball players to All-American teams in one season.  In 2019 (Haleigh Joyner and Sarah Hilton) and 2021 (Joyner and Tucker), the Hurricanes received two All-America nods each.

Following the graduation of 15 student-athletes in May, the Hurricanes will welcome a host of new talent in August as they look to continue their success.
