Tucker, Ewers win Player, Pitcher of the Year among others

Louisburg College softball had 7 players voted all-region last week.

Brianna Tucker, Carrigan Ewers, Ansley Lee, Lark Collins, and Ellen Palya were all-first team all region. Tucker was named Region X player of the year as well as first team all-region. Ewers was named Region X pitcher of the year as well as frist team all-region. Abbie Yarboro and Brooklyn Rush were voted second team.

Brianna Tucker had a .488 batting average with 65 total hits including 18 doubles, and 5 triples. She is 3rd in the country in homeruns with 23. Tucker also had 69 RBI (9th in the country) and 79 runs scored. Tucker also collected 27 stolen bases.

Ansley Lee was a .400 hitter with 44 hits including 9 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs. She had 38 RBI, 37 runs scored.

Lark Collins hit .344 with 42 hits including 10 doubles, 11 home runs, 35 RBI, and 39 runs scored.

Abbie Yarboro hit .426 with 66 hits including 15 doubles, and 3 triples. Her 19 home runs rank 4th in the country. Yarboro also had 70 RBI (8th in the country), 62 runs scored, and 25 stolen bases.

Brooklyn Rush was a .312 hitter. She had 11 doubles, 4 home runs, 20 RBI, 21 runs scored.

Carrigan Ewers went 19-2 in the circle. She pitched 126.1 innings and is 7th in the country with a 1.16 ERA. Ewers had 162 strikeouts. Opponents hit .177 against her.

Ellen Palya was 18-1 in the circle. She pitched 98 innings and is 5th in the country with a 1.07 ERA. She had 166 strikeouts which ranks 4th in the country in strikeouts per seven innings pitched. Opponents hit .117 against her.

Coach Eric Lee reflected, "I'm proud of our all-region award winners for their individual accomplishments that helped our team have a successful season. It is an absolute travesty and completely heartbreaking that Abbie Yarboro had such a special season and was not awarded properly."
