Perfection for Palya

Perfection for Palya

Louisburg College softball faced Fayetteville Tech on April 23 and won both games in the double header.

In game one, Carrigan Ewers was the winning pitcher in the 12-1 victory. She gave up 1 run on 2 hits and finished with 8 strike outs. In game two Ellen Palya threw a perfect game and won 9-0. She struck out 10 of the 15 batters faced.

Coach Lee commented, "A perfect game is the highest individual accomplishment that a pitcher can achieve. For me it was a great experience to watch a player who has dealt with as much adversity as Ellen [Palya] accomplish such a prestigious feat."

Offense was on all cylinders for Louisburg as well. In the two games, Brianna Tucker had two home runs. Ansley Lee and Jessica Russell each had one. Tucker also had two doubles. Abbie Yarboro and Lark Collins added one.

Tucker and Lee had 3 RBI. Russell, Chelsea Roberson, Foster Sharpe, and Ramsey Schlafer added 2. Yarboro, Collins, Amber McLaren, McKenna Glascock each had a single run batted in.

Tucker, Yarboro, and Collins all had 2 stolen bases. McLaren, Roberson, Russell, and Sharpe each had one.

Softball returns to action at Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute on Tuesday for a double header. First pitch is at 3 pm.
