Fourth-ranked Softball extends win streak to 21

On Sunday Louisburg College softball traveled to Martinsville, Virginia to compete with Patrick & Henry Community College in a double header. The Hurricanes won both games.

In game one Louisburg won 7-2. Carrigan Ewers started in the circle for the Hurricanes. She pitched 6 innings and stuck out 13. At the plate, Brianna Tucker was 2-4 with a homerun, 2 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. Four other Hurricanes had a multi-hit game including: Abbie Yarboro, Brooklyn Rush, Chelsea Roberson, and Jessica Russell.

"To collect 14 hits in a game is quite an accomplishment against a quality opponent," said Louisburg coach Eric Lee. "I'm proud of our team for their discipline at the plate."

In game two Louisburg won 8-0. Offensively, Brianna Tucker and Jessica Russell had two hits each and Abbie Yarboro launched a 3-run bomb.

Ellen Palya was the winning pitcher. She threw 4 innings and gave up no runs while striking out 7 Patrick & Henry batters.

Coach Lee commented, "Ellen [Palya]  gave us two quality starts this week including a no hitter against Richard Bland on Monday, and then 1-hitting a really good Patrick & Henry team today. Our pitching continues to be a bright spot for us as we work to polish the other phases of the game."

Softball will not take the field again until April 12. The game will be at home against Southeastern Community College. First pitch is at 4 pm. On that day the Hurricanes will honor the Winstead and Taylor families for their contributions to the program.
