Softball defeats Wake Tech

Louisburg College softball took the field against Wake Technical Community College on Saturday. The Hurricanes swept the match up.

The first game finished 14-1. In the circle Emilee Prince had a no hitter through 4.2, until she gave it up on a solo homerun. However she threw all 5 innings with 13 of the 15 outs being strike outs.

"It was exciting to see Emily go out and dominate the way she did in her first collegiate start. We hit the ball hard today consistently after we struggled on Thursday night."

At the plate, Abbie Yarboro and Chelsea Roberson homered. Briana Tucker, Foster Sharpe, and Yarboro had a multi-hit game.

In game two the Hurricanes won 16-0. Ellen Palya went all 5 innings and struck out 9.

Dessa Houston was 2-2 with her first collegiate home run. Daly Keel was 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Every Hurricane that had a plate appearance in the game collected a hit.

"It's always good to start Region X play 4-0. It gave us a chance to look at things to clean up as we head deeper into our schedule," said coach Lee.

The Hurricanes take the field again at Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute at 3:00 on Wednesday.
