Louisburg College softball took on Pitt Community College on Thursday afternoon in a double header where they swept the Bulldogs.

The Hurricanes won the first game 3-0. Carrigan Ewers threw a one-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts.

"It was good to see Carrigan get back on track after a rough outing earlier in the week," said Louisburg coach Eric Lee. "We tend to go as she goes, so it is important for her to have quality starts."

At the plate for the Hurricanes, Abbie Yarboro had two RBI on a homerun and a sacrifice fly. The team stole 6 bases.

In game two the Hurricanes won 8-5.

Ansley Lee went 2-3 with a homerun and 2 RBI; while Brooklyn Rush was 1-3 with a homerun that scored 3. Neither batter had a plate appearance in game 1.

In the circle Caroline White threw 4.1 innings of 1 hit relief to pick up the win.

"We looked a little more comfortable offensively," said Coach Lee. "I'm proud of Caroline for coming in and slamming the door when things started going south in the third inning."

The Hurricanes will take the field again on Saturday against Wake Tech. The double header will begin at 1:00 at Louisburg.
