Ten Home Runs Too Much for Camp

Louisburg College softball took on Camp Community College at home this Saturday. The Hurricanes won both games. On the day, Louisburg outscored Camp 36-1. Camp's lone run was unearned.

Louisburg coach Eric Lee commented, "I'm really proud of our kids who took advantage of opportunities. We seem to be clicking on all cylinders at the right time of the year."

Carrigan Ewers and Caroline White each had 7 runs batted in, on three hits a piece. Jordyn Scott finished the day 4-5 at the plate with 5 RBI. Haleigh Joyner and Lark Collins each had 4 RBI with 5 and 4 hits respectively. Abbie Yarboro had 3 runs batted in on the same number of hits. Rianna Layton was 4-6 and finished with 2 RBI.

Not only did the Hurricanes hit extremely well. They also had stellar performances from their pitching. Carrigan Ewers started the first game and threw 3 innings of no hit softball. Ellen Palya came to finish the shut out. Then in the second game, Ina Womak and Haley Tomlinson combined for a no-hitter.

"This weekend our pitchers continued to execute at a really high level. We're getting into plus counts and forcing batters to hit what we want them to hit," said Coach Lee. "Its exciting to see two sophomores leading the way."

After Saturday Louisburg College softball moves to 21-6 on the season, and remains undefeated against NJCAA Division II opponents. Their next match up is on Friday at home against USC Union. First pitch is at 1 pm.
