Louisburg wins two against Paul D. Camp

Before rain postponed games at Bryant & Stratton on Saturday, Louisburg College softball was able to get in two five inning contests against Paul D. Camp Community College on Friday. Louisburg won both games in easy fashion.

Paul D. Camp started the day by scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning, but Louisburg returned the favor with 11 runs over the course of the next 5 innings for the win. The Hurricanes had 10 hits in 24 at bats including homeruns from Sammi-Jo Loney and Jordyn Scott. Other RBIs included Sarah Hilton (4), Haleigh Joyner, and Alexis Howard. Ina Womack only gave up 1 hit in 4 innings pitched, but issued 3 walks and an had to overcome an error in the first. Haley Tomlinson closed the game in the bottom of the fifth leaving the final score 11-3.

Tomlinson returned to the mound to start the second game of the afternoon. She went an additional 4 inning allowing 4 hits on just 1 run. Mackenzie Silvia struck out the side in the 5thas Louisburg came out on top 10-1. Haleigh Joyner and Sammi-Jo Loney hit homeruns, while other RBIs came from Alexis Howard (2), Sarah Hilton (2), and Jordyn Scott (2).

Louisburg offense only struck out once in each game Friday leading them forward to a 9-1 record. The Hurricanes will head down to Myrtle Beach to participate in the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic this Wednesday. The first game will be against Rowan College at Burlington County at 11:30 am.
