10 Louisburg College top 5 all-time performances at Aggie Classic

The Louisburg men's and women's track teams traveled to NC A&T University for the 2022 Aggie Classic Friday and Saturday.

Sophomore John Gormely started the weekend off with a huge PR in the 5k Friday night. His time of 15:21.02 was good for 3rd place at the meet. It was the 5th fastest in school history, and makes Gormely a National Qualifier.

Also, freshman Keasean Dirks continued his record breaking season. He finished 13th in the 100m (10.56) and 20th in the 200m (21.93) in a NCAA Division 1 loaded field. His time in the 200m is a new school record.

Matthew Bauer has cemented himself as the greatest mid-distance runner in school history. He ran a 1:52.49 in the 800m which is a school record and a national qualifying time. That is the 2nd event Bauer has qualified for this year's Outdoor National Championship.

Sophomore team captain Jeremy Evans ran a 52.18 in the 400m. This places him 16th in school history; while fellow team captain Laterrion Johnson finished 10th in the Long Jump with his jump of 6.93m

Freshman Kam Tuttle had a big weekend. Competing in the 4x1, he ran a 21.97 in the 200m (#3 Louisburg College all-time), and set a school record in the long jump with his jump of 7.39m.

Several other Louisburg athletes had big PR's as well.

Coach Caldwell reflected, "This weekend was tremendous! For us to come out and go toe to toe with NCAA Division 1 schools such as NC A&T, NC Central and UNC-G. That was really special. We are also thrilled to punch not one, not two, but 3 more national Qualifying marks and 10 Louisburg Top 5 all-time performances. Things are coming together at the right time."

The Hurricanes travel to Liberty University for their last meet of the season on May 4.
