Indoor Track National Championship

The Louisburg College men's track team took take 5 athletes who qualified in 5 individual events for the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship this weekend in Pittsburg, Kansas. This is believed to be the most ever in Louisburg College history.
 
Khamari Arrington started the Hurricanes off strong Friday night in the shot put. He finished 17th in the nation with a best throw of 14.85m (48' 8.75"). "It was a personal best for Khamari, and he showed he deserved to be there!" said Coach Chandler Caldwell.
 
Freshman Keasean Dirks rebroke his own school record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.90. This time was good for 26th place. 
 
Sophomore Laterrion Johnson finished 19th in the long jump. His best jump came in at 6.80m (22' 3.75") not long after returning from injury.
 
Sophomore All-American Hurdler Sidney Littlejohn ran his best time of the season 8.09 in the 60mH. His time was not good enough to get him into the finals this year. But it was good enough for a 12th place finish. He remains the college's record holder in the event.
 
On Saturday, Sophomore Matthew Bauer competed in the mile. He did not have his best performance of the year, but his time of 4:28 was good for the 10th best time in school history, and he finished the season as the 3rd fastest ever in the event when he ran a 4:19 mile to qualify for nationals.
 
The Hurricanes men's and women's track teams open up their outdoor season this weekend March 11-12 at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge.
