Indoor Track Travels to CNU

The Louisburg College men's track team traveled up to Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia on Sunday January 30th.

This was the first meet of the much anticipated season for the Hurricanes.

"Overall, there is still much work to be done but there is a lot to be proud of," said Louisburg coach Chandler Caldwell. "This meet was more or less of a rust buster for us since it was our first competition, but there was a lot we can build on."

Sophomore Sidney Littlejohn got Louisburg started on a high note by punching his ticket to the NJCAA National meet from running a time of 8.34 in the 60 meter Hurdles.

Sophomore Laterrion Johonson finished in 2nd place in the long jump with a mark of 6.64m. Johnson also came in 4th place in the triple jump with his best jump of 13.39m.

Khamarri Arrington set a personal best of 14.7m in the shot put. His throw was good enough to finish 2nd overall.

Sophomore Matthew Bauer won the mile and the 800m with times of 4:26.53 and 2:03.38 respectively.

"One of the goals we set as a team was to have 5-6 sprinters run under 7.25 in the 60m Dash on the season. We have already accomplished that after 1 meet as 7 athletes did that today," said Coach Caldwell. "They are really just getting started. This group is extremely special. Coach Strozier and I can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds."
