Ruppe to lead Track & Field/XC

Louisburg College Athletic Director, Mike Holloman, announced today the hiring of new men's and women's track & field/cross country Head Coach Cameron Ruppe.

"I would like to thank both Dr. Brown and Coach Holloman for this opportunity. They have both been very helpful in making this transition easy," said Ruppe. "I can't wait to build on the very strong history of Louisburg's cross country/track & field program. We will build strong, well rounded individuals that perform well in the classroom and are fierce competitors."

Ruppe comes to Louisburg from College of Charleston where he spent the 2019-20 academic year as assistant cross country/track & field coach. There he coached 3 top 10 cross country performances in College of Charleston history, while the men's cross country team earned the highest grade point average of all varsity sports.

Before College of Charleston, Ruppe assisted at Buena Vista University for 2018–19. He coached 15 top 10 performances at BVU including 5 school records, while guiding the men's team to their best regional finish in a decade. He also promoted the importance of high academic standing, with a women's cross country runner achieving Academic All-American.

As a student athlete at Winthrop University, Ruppe competed in cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field, and in 2017 he placed 4th at the Big South Conference Steeplechase. Also while in college, Ruppe was assistant cross country/track & field coach at Rock Hill High School where he guided student-athletes to 4 team regional championships, 15 individual region champions, 8 All-State Performances, 3 state runner-up, and 8 collegiate scholarships.

Ruppe graduated from Winthrop University in 2018, a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. He is currently purusing a Master of Science of Sport's Administration at Arkansas State University.

Ruppe is married to his wife, Lauren, who is a middle school resource teacher. "My wife and I are thrilled to move to the Louisburg area and get invested in the community. We are excited to support the athletics programs and can't wait to meet everyone there."
