Records, National Qualifiers Highlight Canes performance at Duke

During a very soggy Saturday at Duke University the Louisburg Hurricanes were able to brave the inclement weather and drop some big performances.

On the Men's side the #15 Hurricanes were led by some stellar performances in the hurdles and distance events.

To begin the day Tayshaun Chisholm came 8th in the 110 Hurdles in a time of 14.44 seconds. Competing in a very fast field, Tayshaun has come in the top 8 of every race this year. Fellow hurdler Aveon Reid continued the hurdle squad's success in the 400H event. Aveon who came 5th in the 60 Hurdles at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships cropped 4 seconds off his time, hit the national qualification mark, and set the school record with a clocking of 54.97 in the event.

Finally, to end the day Kyle Hinson added to his plethora of school records by setting the school record in the 5000 Meter race with a time of 14:45. Kyle is ranked 3rd in the NJCAA this year.

On the Ladies side Ashley Pearce had a very solid performance running a very nice 200 time of 25.78. Ashley has broken 26 twice this year. Halei Ward also made a solid debut in the 1500 of 5:27 to run the best time for the "Canes so far this season in the event.

 

The Canes Continue their season on May 1st as they participate in the Liberty Twilight Invitational to finish off their regular season.
