Canes Track and Field Team opened the season with impressive team finishes at Appalachian State
Louisburg competed in Boone over the weekend at the App State Open and left with many strong performances.
The teams finished 7th in the meet for men and 12th for women overall.
Jack Mastandrea and Jacob Willis led the way with overall event victories in the mile (426) and 3000 (854) respectively.
Chancey Gunnell led the way for the women finishing 3rd overall in the 400 and 4th in the 200 meter.
Orlandus gamble leapt to a 4th place finish in the high jump in 6'3.75.
Finally Zach Boyers finished the meet in 6th with a heave of 47'4.75" in the shot put.
By the end of the weekend Zach Boyers is ranked 8th in the country
Orlandus 17th
Jacob 6th
And Jack 10th.
Canes send part of the team to Liberty to compete January 26th and 27th.
