Louisburg College Track and Field Program Opens 1st full Track Season At JDL

The Hurricanes headed to Winston-Salem on this past Saturday to kick off the Indoor track season at the JDL facility against competition from over 35 Division 1, 2 and 3 programs from all over the state.

Freshman Zach Boyers led the way with throw of 14.41 meters with the 16lb shot put, good for 9th place overall out of 45 competitors.

Chancey Gunnell was the highlighting performance for the women's team with a 400 meter run of 60.97 seconds.

"This was a great opportunity for a part of our team to get out there and shake off the rust. We are also in a unique position right now as a program where this weekend established many of our school records in events that have previously never been competed here" mentioned Coach Hayman.

The Hurricanes now go on winter break and continue to train until the Spring semester where they will restart the indoor track season by heading to Appalachian State to compete on January the 20th
