Men's Soccer Advances in National Tournament

Louisburg College men's soccer won the Atlantic District Championship on May 22 against Georgia Military College and travelled to Wichita, Kansas for the NJCAA national tournament on June 5. Before the match the Hurricanes were 9-2-1 during the 2020-2021 season.

On Saturday the Hurricanes took on Jones College there was no scoring in the first half, but the Hurricanes came out with the win 2-1.

Jones scored first at 49:41. It was a shot by John Mark Rose assisted by Adam Lynch. Louisburg tied the match at 73:50 with an unassisted goal from Santiago Romero. Then the Hurricanes went ahead with a goal from Jose Martinex at 89:14.

Louisburg had 16 shots: Yusuke Kobayashi (6), Jimmy Cruz (2), Danny Alvarez (1), Marco Chang (1), and Mario Portillo (1). The goalie from Jones 9 saves.

Jones had 6 shots. Louisburg goalie Tomi Prizzia had 2 saves after the defense only allowed 3 shots on goal.

The win propels Louisburg to another match on June 7 versus Southeastern Community College. Kickoff is at 2:00 PM EDT.
