Hurricanes come up short against Catawba Valley

On January 18 men's basketball hosted Catawba Valley Community College in Roger Taylor Arena.

The Hurricanes outscored Catawba Valley by 5 in the second half, but it was not enough in the 90-88 loss.

"Catawba Valley gets down the floor better than any other team in the league," said Coach Bagwell. "We spent quite a bit of time preparing for it, but still couldn't stop them from getting easy baskets in the first few minutes."

Jimmy Forte, Travon Gray, Ayinde Taylor II, and Jamel Marbuary all had 12 points in the contest.

Gray was 6-8 from the free throw line. Ayinde Taylor II was 5-6 from the floor including 2-2 from the 3 point line. Jamel Marbuary had 4 three point baskets.

The Hurricanes were 11-29 overall from the 3 point line and 11-16 from the free throw line.

"We took care of the ball better tonight," said Coach Bagwell. "We were just one rebound away from the win."

Men's basketball will face #15 Bryant & Stratton College on Saturday in Roger Taylor Arena. Tip off is at 3:00 pm.
