Hurricanes lose in final seconds to #1 Davidson-Davie

Louisburg College men's basketball hosted #1 Davidson-Davie Community College on December 14 in Roger Taylor Arena.

The Hurricanes went into halftime with a 58-52 led. The Hurricanes played aggressive defense in a fast-paced game. They had 15 steals to Davidson-Davie's 10. 

Jimmy Forte hit an assisted 3 from Omar Brown with 17 seconds remaining to take the lead by 1, however Louisburg lost in the final seconds 97-94.

There were six Hurricanes in double figures. Jamel Marbuary had 23 points including 3 makes from beyond the arc. Travon Gray had a good night with 16 points (6-8 from the free throw line). Jimmy Forte added 13 points including 3 makes from beyond the arc. Ayinde Taylor II accumulated 11 points and led the Hurricanes with 7 rebounds. Freshman point guard Baron Williams had 10 including 4-5 from the free throw line.

"It was a fun basketball game to be a part of; we were just hoping for a different result," said Coach Bagwell. "We put ourselves in a position to win, but they did a great job getting to the free throw line all night."

Louisburg made more field goals than Davidson-Davie, but lost at the free throw line. Louisburg was 18-26, but Davidson-Davie was 25-33.

The loss takes men's basketball to a 4-2 in Region X play. The Hurricanes will travel to Patrick & Henry after the Christmas break.
