Hurricanes defeated at the Free Throw line

Louisburg College men's basketball took on Fayetteville Tech on December 1.

The half time score was 46-44 in favor of Fayetteville Tech. The Hurricanes got off to a great start to the second half, but in the end they could not overcome Fayetteville Tech's 40 free throws. Fayetteville Tech won 94-85.

"Coach Hurd has done a great job this season managing his personnel," said Coach Bryan Bagwell. "They play to their strengths and hide their weaknesses. Now that they don't have two traditional bigs they spread it out and were able to draw fouls tonight." 16 of Fayetteville Tech's last 24 points came at the free throw line.

Louisburg shot it pretty well in the contest. The Hurricanes were 10-32 (41%) from the 3-point line, and 13 of their 39 misses were offensive rebounded.

Travon Gray had 16 points. He was 6-10 from the floor, 2-2 from 3, and 2-2 from the free throw line. He also had 5 rebounds. Almando Cyrius had 15 points. Jimmy Forte added 12 points on 4-5 from long range. Ayinde Taylor II had 12 points and was 6-7 from the free throw line. Jordan Kearney was 3-5 from the 3-point line with 9 points.

"It was nice to see Tra[von Gray] be aggressive offensively," said Coach Bagwell. "We just have to find a way to get to the free throw line like Fayetteville Tech did tonight."

The Hurricanes face off against Guilford Tech on Saturday. The game is at Roger Taylor Arena with a 3 pm tip off.
