Hurricanes move to 2-0 in Region X

On November 22 Louisburg College men's basketball traveled to Lenoir Community College for their last contest before Thanksgiving break.

The Hurricanes were up 50-43 at halftime, but the score was tied at the end of regulation. Then the Hurricanes outscored Lenoir 18-4 in overtime to win 96-82 to go 2-0 in Region X play.

Ayinde Taylor II led the Hurricanes with 23 points. He was 9-13 from the floor and had 8 rebounds. Jimmy Forte had 20 points. He shot over 50% from the floor and collected 4 steals. Almando Cyrius added 12 points on 6-13 shooting and 8 rebounds. Jamel Marbuary had 11 points and was 3-4 from the three point line. Tim Robinson had 5 offensive rebounds.

"Jamel [Marbuary] made some big shots for us today," said Louisburg coach Bryan Bagwell. "It was fun to watch us find a way to overcome a 12 point deficit."

The Hurricanes collectively were 38-85 (45%) from the floor, 10-32 from the three point line, and 10-14 from the free throw line. They had 20 turnovers, 18 assists, and 13 steals.

"Our transition defense was not very good today, but it's nice to go into thanksgiving with a win," according to Coach Bagwell. "Lenoir did a great job playing to their strengths, but we have a lot to build on."

The win moves the Hurricanes to 2-0 in Region X play. They take the floor again on December 1 at home against Fayetteville Tech. Men's Basketball split 1-1 against Fayetteville Tech last season.
