Early comeback falls short at Caldwell

Louisburg College men's basketball traveled to Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute on Wednesday.

The Hurricanes were down 12-2 early, but found a way to take the lead in the first half. After losing the final four minutes of the first half, the Hurricanes went into the locker room down 33-37. In the second half the trailing Hurricanes fouled until the final score was 87-73.

Almando Cyrius led the Hurricanes with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Jordan Kearney added 11 points. Jimmy Forte and Baron Williams both added 9.

The Hurricanes were 24-72 (33%) from the floor, 8-34 (24%) from the 3-point line, and 17-30 (57%) from the free throw line.

"Their length affected us and it was not a good night shooting the ball," said Coach Bagwell "We got the ball in the paint a lot against their zone and couldn't capitalize."

Louisburg did win the ball control battle and forced 21 Caldwell turnovers. Coach Bagwell commented, "We have to continue to defend and things will start to go our way. I like our team and believe that we are ready for Region X play."

Louisburg has Region X games at Southwest Virginia and Lenoir before the Thanksgiving break.
