Men's Basketball struggles against #19 Howard

Louisburg College men's basketball traveled to Columbia, Maryland to take on #19 Howard Community College on Friday.

The Hurricanes came out with an early lead in the first 4 minutes, but due to turnovers between the 16-12 minute mark they got down 20-9. Louisburg settled back in to win the next 8 minutes, but with struggles leading into halftime found themselves down 37-23 at the break. The second half was much of the same with the final score 87-61 in favor of Howard.

"Howard is very well coached," said Louisburg coach Bryan Bagwell. "They were able to make adjustments in their press and they got their hands on a lot in spurts."

Omar Brown led the Hurricanes with 16 points. He was 5-10 from the floor including 3-5 from the three point line and 3-4 from the free throw line. Jimmy Forte had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Baron Williams was 6-6 from the free throw line. Jayden Munson had 3 assists. Travon Gray added three blocks.

"I was pleased with our defense early, but later in the game we had possessions where we didn't know what defense we were in or who we were guarding and that has to change," said Coach Bagwell. "This was a really good test for us if we want to make it back to the national tournament."

The Hurricanes will take the floor again tomorrow against CCBC Dundalk for a second game in Maryland.
