Louisburg College men's basketball hosted College of Southern Maryland Thursday, November 11.

The Hurricanes got out to a good start, but Southern Maryland was able to cut it to 46-39 by half time and then take the game to overtime. Southern Maryland ended up winning 95-93.

Offensive rebounds were tied at 15; Louisburg had 2 fewer turnovers; and made 3 more field goals. The difference was that Southern Maryland made 17 free throws to Louisburg's 6.

Jahiem Niblett had 24 points for the Hurricanes on 11-14 from the floor. Justin Stephens had 18 points and was 3-8 from the 3 point line. Caleek Cobb finished with 16, also 3-8 from three.

"Both teams played extremely hard, but we gave them too many second chances," said Louisburg coach Bryan Bagwell. "It felt good to get the ball inside and score in the nineties. Hopefully we will keep that trend."

The loss takes men's basketball to 2-2 on the season. They will face off against Fayetteville Tech in their first Region X contest Saturday at Reid Ross Classical School at 3 pm.
